As we’ve passed Levi’s first birthday and moved into fall, the milestones are coming fast and furious. Crawling, which didn’t happen until 11 months, and walking is already coming on fast. Words are beginning to pop out of him with a rush of semi-intelligible grunts, shrieks and adorable ooo’s and aahhh’s. He knows a duck says quack, and Rasta (our dog) says Ow Ow Oowwwooooooooo! ...

This photo comes from friend, reader, and honorary Dirtbag Diaries board member Josh Norris. Josh snapped a photo of Griffin on his first steps into the vertical. Josh may have his hands full later in life — from an early age Griffin loved to be tossed, twirled and spun in the air. There may be some hospital bills in the Norris family future.
Please send those photos in for Friday stoke.

Griffin grabs the paddle and rows along the Willamette River. Griffin’s first boat trip was when he was 2 months old. And though his dad, Josh, says he’s never been on rapids greater than class 1, Griffin will proudly tell you “I whitewater raft.” In addition to mom, Jessica, and dad, Griffin’s 2 month old brother, Oliver, was along for the float, complete with an infant pfd...

I think folks are starting to feel the winter bug. And it’s no wonder when inches of snow are starting to fall. Inspired by last week’s photo, Joel Waltner sent us a photo taken last winter with his son Elias, then 20 months, “full of energy and enthusiasm.” “We were out skiing with some friends of ours and their daughter was being pulled along in the sled, while Elias had been stashed...

Kevin Riddell recently sent us this photo, saying “Starting ‘em young and keeping it fun!” A good motto to live by. Seeing the snow gets me excited for winter.
The Outdoor Parent is always looking for photos or videos from you latest adventure. Send them in and we’ll post them on Friday Stoke.

Steve and the gang just got back from a four-day backpacking trip in Idaho’s Sawtooth Range. Oddly, enough I was there too about two weeks ahead of the Bohrer family. Steve put together this great little slide show/video report. If you look closely you can see him cringe behind the camera when, his kids are on the granite water slide. How nice it would be to have young knees.

Denver mom and climber Kira Riedel passed along this photo. On July 5th, Kira risked attracting the ire of annoyed drivers waiting in line at the busy gas station to capture this image with her son after his first back packing trip. I love it because it is well-composed and honest. We’ve all felt that way — too tired to clear a space and too content to care.
If you’ve got photos...

Regular Contributor Danny Maynor found this photo on a surfing forum. Pretty sweet until you realize that the paddle-board is committing a serious offense. Thou shall not drop in on a board full of children!
The next image in the sequence shows four little pirates boarding the offending vessel.

I love it when a picture gets a writer off the hook for writing content. Sometimes a photo is worth a thousand words. Thanks for reader Mark Walters for cluing us in. The photo has been one of the most popular at Surfline.
